As the season draws near, we turn our player spotlight to Braydon Tucker. Tucker is a 6’3”, 210 pound right handed pitcher from Brazil , IN where he attended Northview High School. He is currently a freshman playing for the Indiana University Hoosiers.
While in high school Tucker had quite the start to his baseball career. He lettered varsity all four years. In 2017 he was All-State Honorable Mention and in 2018 he was both the District Pitcher of the Year and Player of the Year. In 2016 Tucker was part of the 3A state championship team. In the finale, Tucker pitched a complete game to bring Northview its first ever athletic state championship. He compiled an all-time record of 35-6 from the mound during his high school career. Fifteen of those wins came in one season. Along with that unbelievable record, he also struck out 306 batters over the course of his four years. Another major feat from those days was he striking out twenty batters in one game.
During his introductory season as a Hoosier, Tucker’s playing time has been limited. He has made 5 appearances this season and pitched 6.2 innings. He has made the most of his opportunities though, as he currently has a 2.70 ERA with two strikeouts.
