TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – [July 19, 2023] – Terre Haute REX Baseball has named Culley DeGroote (De-GROAT) as Interim Head Coach to finish out the remainder of the 2023 season. This announcement comes after a mutual decision to go in different directions with previous field manager, Harry Markotay.
“We appreciate the time that Harry was here and was able to coach this group of players, but we felt it was time for a change at this point in the season.” REX GM and part Owner Bruce Rosselli said. “I’m excited to announce Culley DeGroote as Interim Head Coach and have him on board for the rest of the season! I have great confidence in Coach DeGroote and Coach Harden steering the ship as we push for a good run to round out the 2023 season.”
Culley DeGroote, a baseball and basketball standout, has over 23 years of coaching under his belt. DeGroote has spent 13 years in Michigan coaching high school & collegiate baseball and has been the head baseball coach for West Vigo High School for 10 years now. DeGroote is a West Vigo native, graduated from West Vigo High School in 1995 and is an alumnus of Indiana State University.
