REX Baseball traveled to Lafayette, IN last night to take on the Lafayette Aviators. The REX were hoping to build on their 7-1 victory the night before over the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp. The Aviators were looking to continue their dominance of the Prospect League after being crowned the first half champions.
The game started as a a pitcher's duel. There were no runs scored for the first two and a half innings. The Aviators struck first in the bottom of the third to take a 1-0 lead. REX left fielder Alec Brunson tied it up in the top of the fourth on a monster home run that almost landed in the water park across from Loeb Stadium. It was his second home run in as many days. He is now in the top ten of the Prospect League in home runs with six.
From there on out it was all Aviators. They added six more run throughout the game. The REX ended up falling to the Aviators by a score of 7-1. The REX are now 12-18 on the season.
Wabash Valley's Own are back in action at Bob Warn Field all weekend. They play the Danville Dans tonight at 6:30 PM EST. We hope to see you at the ballpark!
